Community Outreach
Whether it's volunteering in the community or for non-profit organizations, Prudential Carruthers REALTORS® makes a difference.
Sunshine Kids
Established in 1982, The Sunshine Kids is a non-profit organization dedicated to children with cancer. Funded by contributions from individuals, philanthropic foundations, and corporations, The Sunshine Kids are committed to providing positive group activities and emotional support for young cancer patients by providing a variety of programs and events, free of charge, for children who are receiving cancer treatments in hospitals across the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
Since becoming a Prudential Real Estate network member in 1995, Prudential
Carruthers has raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for this worthwhile
cause and has been recognized by the network as being in the top 10 network
affiliates with the most fundraising contributions to the Sunshine Kids.
We are honored that our President, J. Thomas Carruthers, III serves as the National Honorary Chairperson for the Sunshine Kids Foundation. As the National Honorary Chairperson for the Sunshine Kids Foundation, Mr. Carruthers coordinates efforts to expand the Sunshine Kids profile in the Prudential Real Estate network to increase the incredible support the network presently affords the Foundation. Since being appointed, Tommy has seen the fundraising activities of the Prudential Real Estate network grow to well over 2.5 million dollars annually.
Spirit of Community Awards
The Prudential Spirit of Community Awards is the nation's largest
youth recognition program based solely on volunteer service. It draws a
tremendous amount of attention to thousands of inspiring young heroes from
the news media, educators, and government officials.
Applications and instructions are sent to all middle schools and high schools
and officially designated local organizations including:
- 4-H
- Girl Scouts
- Camp Fire
- American Red Cross Chapters
- YMCA
- Camp Fire USA Councils
- Volunteer centers affiliated with the Points of Light Foundation
Local honorees are selected in November by schools and local
organizations. From this group, Prudential Financial selects two top individuals
in each state, the District of Columbia, and Puerto Rico. Each selected
hero receives $1,000 USD, an engraved silver medallion, and a trip to Washington,
D.C.
In Washington, Prudential Financial names the top 10 youth volunteers. These
individuals win an additional $5,000 USD, a gold medallion, and a crystal
trophy for the school or organization that nominated them, and $5,000 grants
from The Prudential Foundation for nonprofit, charitable organizations of
their choice.
